This is a time to celebrate your new relationship and get to know each other better. Make sure you set aside some time for just the two of you, without any distractions. Get to planning and dreaming together! Have a little dinner out to chat about your plans and what you want from your wedding. Do you want to go big or keep it chill? What do you value – photographs you know will be very meaningful and sentimental in the future? A great venue? Everything in the one place?
Your wedding venue is a huge decision and will set the tone for the rest of the wedding plans. Is a chapel ceremony important to you and your faith? Would you prefer to be outdoors in nature?
Do you want to go with a traditional schedule or totally mix it up with a first look and photos followed by a sunset ceremony and straight into a big party? This is your chance to start planning your wedding and figuring out what you want. Talk about what’s important to both of you, and don’t be afraid to compromise on things that are less important.
This is where most people would tell you to start budgeting. But its not that straight forward. Wedding professionals might only be ‘in action’ on one day – your wedding day – but don’t underestimate the mountains of work that goes on behind the scenes to produce quality and perfection. It may be best to find vendors who can dedicate full-time hours to planning your event and can arrive fresh and energetic on your big day.
It is best to get your priorities in order. And perhaps book in that order!
This can be a difficult decision, but I will make it simple for you:
Who do you want with you on the morning of your wedding? If you can answer that question you have your answer.
Do you want 6 girlfriends? You should enjoy the husel and busel and lots of people around you with all of that excitement.
Do you just want your sister and your bestie? You are probably more comfortable with small groups and you might be more comfortable with this choice.
It’s so important to choose wisely. Make sure you chose people who will be supportive and helpful in the lead-up to your wedding.
You are over the moon and just want something to do with all of that crazy energy! So take action now! Don’t wait – start planning an engagement shoot or your engagement party! It doesn’t need to be big. It can even just be your bridal party over for drinks on the patio. But just do something with loved ones to celebrate this milestone and let others get excited with you!
So POP the CHAMPAGNE!
It might not be your top priority. You may prefer to put your money into the Wedding Day instead of photos beforehand. But if you can swing it, or better yet if your Wedding Package includes it, planning an engagement session is never a regret!
It is always a good idea to have a trial run with your photographer -after all you trial your make-up, you taste your cake, why not try out your photographer before the big day? It will alleviate some serious stress so that you can be your calm and carefree best self at your wedding.
If you don’t 100% trust your photographer, it WILL show through in your photos. Especially your prep photos!
It can be easy to get caught up in all the planning and details of your wedding, but don’t forget to have some chill time too. Take a break from the stress and relax with your fiancé – get your Netflix on or take the dog for an afternoon walk together. Sometimes you just need some fresh air to keep your perspective. You might have some friends and family who you know always calm you. Or you may have a favorite vendor who always sets your mind at ease.
